Club Safety Rules

  1. Know and comply with current AMA safety codes. Model flying must be in accordance with these codes in order for AMA liability protection to apply

  2. Do not deliberately fly over pit and/or spectators.

  3. Students do not fly in the presence of spectators until they have had assistance from an instructor or have completed a course of safety and training.

  4. Do not use metal props.

  5. Do not interfere with or harass any aircraft, car, or animal in the air or on the ground.

  6. Test flight of new or repaired aircraft shall be away from the pit areas and spectators and not over the pit or spectator areas.

  7. An initial turn after take off shall be away from the pit areas and spectators and not over the pit or spectator areas.

  8. Explosives used in conjunction with model flying and use of explosives and fireworks at this flying site is prohibited.

  9. Launch free flight models at least 100 feet downwind of spectators, cars, or anyone not directly involved with the flight.

  10. Flying into the no-fly zone at the south end of field is strictly prohibited. (See field drawing).

  11. As common courtesy to your fellow flyers, do not start or test your engine directly behind an active pilot station.

  12. Club members are responsible for the control of children and pets.

  13. Access to  the flight area will be through the gates or around the end of the fence and not over the fence.

  14. All engines must have mufflers and be no louder then 96db at 9 ft.

  15. Retrieve any lost model with great caution considering all circumstances thoroughly.  Never attempt to recover a model from a power line or the water without assistance.

  16. The club strongly recommends the use of an electric starter, chicken stick, or gloved hand to start the model aircraft engine.

  17. Operate all models using only radio control frequencies currently assigned by the federal communications commission.

  18. Do not fly models unless the launch area is clear of all personnel.

  19. All flying must be done at the barricaded pilot stations.

  20. Taxi away from pit areas, not toward them and stop your airplane and engine adjacent to your pilot station.

  21. Identify the operating channel and frequency of your radio on the antenna and on the frequency board.

  22. When raising aircraft vertical for an engine check, do not align prop with eyesight.

  23. Maintain communications of your intentions with other pilots flying.

  24. During scheduled work periods the field shall be closed to all flying.

  25. At busy flying times with multiple flights airborne, spotters are necessary for pilot safety.

  26. Flight training under guidance of a club instructor may require special observance of other flyers as noted by instructor in charge.

  27. Flying while intoxicated is strictly prohibited.

  28. Hi-start usage by flyers will require a second person to clear runway of hi-start line after launch. Hi-start flying will be properly coordinated with other flyers for safety reasons.
